How We Insulate Berks County Homes
Spray Foam Insulation Reading air seals and insulates rowhomes, twins, single-family houses and farm buildings in Reading and across Berks County, from West Reading, Wyomissing and Shillington to Exeter, Muhlenberg, Kutztown and Birdsboro. We spray closed-cell and open-cell foam, blow and dense-pack cellulose, and remove old insulation that is wet, soiled or unsafe to leave in place.
Reading's housing is old and mostly attached. Census estimates show that more than half of the city's homes are single-family attached houses, and very little has been built since 2000. Rowhomes lose heat differently from detached houses: through the roof, which is often flat or low-slope with only a shallow cavity; through the front and back walls; and through a stone or brick foundation with a wood sill on top. The suburbs add mid-century twins and singles, and newer townships add larger homes with bonus rooms and attached garages. Farm country adds bank barns, pole buildings and shops.
Every job starts with a look. We check the attic or roof cavity, the basement, and the walls. We look for knob-and-tube wiring that is still live, check chimneys, and look for vermiculite, which should be tested before anyone disturbs it. Then we tell you plainly what we would do.
How we work
- See it first. No phone quotes for spaces we have not seen.
- Written by area. Material, thickness or depth, target R-value and price for each part.
- Seal before insulating. Air leaks get closed first.
- Foam where it pays. Cellulose or fiberglass where it does the job for less.
- Neighbors in mind. In rowhomes we work around shared walls and keep the job contained.
- No surprises. Work starts after you approve the quote.
